THE non-selection of Rushton Paray for Mayaro in the upcoming general election by the United National Congress (UNC) is nothing short of “political spite”.
This is the view of former member of Parliament for Cumuto/Manzanilla Dr Rai Ragbir which he expressed in a statement yesterday in response to the announcement of 35-year-old Nicholas Morris as the UNC’s new prospective candidate for Mayaro in the April 28 general election.
Asked to comment yesterday, former Chaguanas West MP Dinesh Rambally said: “I am no longer a member of the UNC and as such I have ceased commenting on the business of UNC party members. I will however hasten on this opportunity to say that Rushton Paray is a true son of Mayaro soil. His entire family is deep-rooted in Mayaro. His track record as an MP speaks for itself—his dedication to Mayaro is unquestionable, and his work has earned him the trust of his constituents. He has, as a matter of course, put country first. I wish him and his family well.”
