(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Police Force (GPF) spent $3.6 billion during the first half of 2026 to complete 193 Intelligent Video Surveillance (IVS) sites, with work advancing on another 260 sites as part of a wider push to strengthen crime detection and prevention.
According to the Government’s 2026 Mid-Year Report, the completed and ongoing IVS sites are located in Regions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10. The report said other digitalisation initiatives are also underway to further enhance the Force’s ability to address and prevent crime.
Overall, the GPF spent $4.75 billion during the first half of the year, including $679.5 million on infrastructural enhancements to police facilities. Construction of the new Brickdam Police Station continued, with $356 million spent during the first six months. The project is slated for completion by the end of this year.
