8,000 speed regulators to be installed on trucks as automated traffic enforcement expands

The government is set to begin installing 8,000 auto control speed regulators on trucks during the second half of 2026, as part of a broader road-safety programme that has already seen more than 30,000 speeding tickets issued through the Safe Road Intelligence System (SRIS) in six months.

The installation of the devices was first announced during the presentation of Budget 2026 in January and the Mid Year Report 2026 has confirmed that installation is scheduled to commence during the second half of the year.

The initiative comes as the authorities continue to expand automated enforcement of speeding offences through the SRIS.
