The Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was passed on Wednesday night in the Lower House.
The legislation was passed with amendments with 27 votes for and 11 against, with no absentions.
However, during votes on amendments in the committee stage, House Speaker Jagdeo Singh at one point instructed the clerk to repeat the process with several Opposition MPs, as he warned them against editorialising their answers.
