(Kaieteur News) – Tyrone De Groot, 27, a vendor of Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 after he was charged for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Police said in a statement, De Groot was arrested on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, and subsequently charged under Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10. He appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday July 3, 2026, before Her Worship, Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, where the charge was read to him.
After his not guilty plea, bail was granted. He is required to report to the police every first and third Friday. The matter was adjourned to Friday, July 24, 2026, for disclosure.
