A 45-year-old Princes Town man was abducted and robbed while inspecting a van for sale in Barataria on December 23.
The victim, a driver at Damien’s Auto, told police he had arranged to meet a potential buyer for a grey Nissan NP 300 van advertised on Facebook Marketplace. While waiting on Sixth Avenue near the Community Centre, he received a call directing him to Sparrow Avenue.
Upon arrival, he was confronted by two suspects. One posed as the buyer, while the other, armed with a silver knife, forced him into the van, held his head down, and threatened to kill him. The assailants then drove off with him in the vehicle.
