The Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) says it will approach the Kamla Persad-Bissessar-led administration before the end of the year on the future of the long-abandoned multi-school educational centre in Penal—a sprawling five-building complex once hailed as a major investment in South Trinidad’s development.
The centre, which was to house the new campuses for Parvati Girls’ Hindu College and Shiva Boys’ Hindu College, has remained untouched since 2015, when the former People’s Partnership administration lost the general election.
Despite being more than 80% complete at the time, construction was halted, and the site today stands overgrown, with finished structures left to the elements, stray animals, and the homeless.
