A painted mural, “The Greatest Little Island on the Planet”, located at the front terminal of the Arthur NR Robinson International Airport in Tobago, has sparked debate on whether the painting is a political slogan of the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) or one to aspire to.
Some people noted that the slogan was used by the TPP during the campaign trail for the January 12 Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election, and questioned whether its use at the airport amounts to political messaging. Meanwhile, others compared it to the slogan “Great is the PNM”.
Contacted on Sunday for comment, Tourism Secretary Zorisha Hackett rejected the comparison. Hackett said the distinction, in her view, is between promoting a political party and promoting Tobago itself.
