Tobago economic progress ‘going backwards’

Tobago’s economy has moved from zero to a negative since the takeover of the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) administration four years ago.

This was the answer from Diane Hadad, Tobago businesswoman and former chair of the Tobago Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC) when asked about concerns Tobagonians had one month ahead of the January 12, 2026 Tobago House of Assembly election.

Hadad was speaking via phone to the Sunday Express yesterday and summarised Tobago’s economic progress as “going backwards”.
