An elderly couple in Rio Claro endured a terrifying ordeal on Monday morning when they were bound, robbed at gunpoint, and had two of their vehicles stolen in a bold home invasion. But thanks to swift police work, the stolen cars were recovered hours later in South Oropouche.
The victims, A 61-year-old and his wife, 55, of Libertville, were preparing to leave their home around 7:20 a.m. when they were confronted by three masked suspects, one of whom had a gun. The suspects forced the couple back into the house, tied their hands and feet, and ransacked the premises.
During the robbery, the bandits took two Samsung cellphones, a RealMe cellphone, $1,145 in cash, and then demanded keys to a second vehicle parked in the garage. They made off with a red Toyota Yaris and a white Toyota Corolla NZE, together valued at over $270,000.
