A 29-year-old rideshare driver reported he was held captive for about 13 hours after being tricked into driving to Laventille by a passenger who claimed he needed assistance collecting bags.
Police said the driver reported that he picked up a male passenger around 8.18 p.m. on August 26. He was told the passenger was travelling to Piarco International Airport. The passenger changed his request and asked to stop at his home along Plaisance Road, Laventille, to collect several bags.
On reaching the area, the passenger reportedly asked the driver to help carry the bags and took him along a nearby pathway. The driver was then confronted by two masked men, one of whom was carrying a firearm.
