After making history as Trinidad and Tobago’s first female top cop in February 2023, the tenure of Erla Harewood-Christopher has officially come to an end—amidst more controversy.
Her attorney, senior counsel Pamela Elder, raised concerns over two letters sent to Harewood-Christopher yesterday, which she said “reek of interference and an abuse of process”.
The first letter, which was signed by the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Homeland Security, was sent to Harewood-Christopher around 2 p.m., stated: “We are to advise that you are to proceed on vacation leave with effect May 14, 2025.”
