Ch­agua­nas Cham­ber of In­dus­try and Com­merce (CCIC) pres­i­dent Bal­dath Ma­haraj has called on TTPost and rel­e­vant gov­ern­ment au­thor­i­ties to act quick­ly to re­solve the tem­po­rary sus­pen­sion of postal ser­vices for mer­chan­dise bound for the Unit­ed States.

TTPost, in a state­ment on Fri­day, said that fol­low­ing the US ex­ec­u­tive or­der of Ju­ly 30, 2025, ti­tled “Sus­pend­ing Du­ty-Free De Min­imis Treat­ment for All Coun­tries”, the du­ty-free ex­emp­tion for goods val­ued at US$800 or less was elim­i­nat­ed ef­fec­tive Au­gust 29. Con­se­quent­ly, all in­ter­na­tion­al postal items con­tain­ing goods des­tined for the US, re­gard­less of val­ue, are now sub­ject to cus­toms du­ties.
