(Kaieteur News) – The government through the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development for the year thus far awarded approximately $2,435,737,623 in contracts for the upgrade of three major market facilities in Regions Three and Four.
With more market projects tendered for, these projects form part of the ministry’s $36.7 billion budgetary allocation which was approved in this year’s budget. The $2.4 billion covers the rehabilitation and construction of markets at Pouderoyen in Region Three, Buxton on the East Coast of Demerara, and East Ruimveldt in Georgetown, Region Four.
As reported, in July, Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Priya Manickchand and her team turned the sod for the rehabilitation of the East Ruimveldt Market.
