Sod turned for new $1.5B Pouderoyen Market

(Kaieteur News) – Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Priya Manickchand on Saturday turned the sod for the construction of a new Pouderoyen Market facility in Region Three, at a cost of $1.5 billion.

According to information shared by the ministry, the $1,519,219,578 facility will be constructed by Kalitech Inc., which was awarded the contract through the public tender process. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, while the design was done by Skylines Architecture.

The new market will replace the existing facility and significantly expand the space available for vending, creating opportunities for existing vendors, roadside sellers and new entrepreneurs, while providing residents with a modern facility in which to shop and conduct business, the ministry said.
