A 57-YEAR-OLD woman fought off a bandit who attempted to snatch her jewelry in El Socorro on Saturday.
Police said the incident occurred around 3.41 p.m. as the woman, who is from Chaguanas, was walking north along El Socorro Road in the vicinity of Bissessar Street. It was reported a man approached her and attempted to remove a gold-coloured chain from around her neck.
The woman resisted and grabbed one of the suspect’s fingers, biting it and severing a portion of the fingernail and skin. She was unable to say which finger was injured.
