The University of the West Indies (UWI) Penal-Debe South Campus is projected to finally house classes this year, over a decade after being abandoned and a whopping $600 million spent.
The University yesterday posted the following images of the campus’ interior, noting that the southern campus, having remained largely under-utilized had experienced some natural deterioration in certain areas-though key restorations have already been made, it said.
“Key restoration to the main buildings – the Academic Building (3-story main teaching and learning facility), Students’ Union, Auditorium/Moot Court, Health Facility, Cafeteria and Gymnasium have already been made to a high standard and they are ready for occupation. Furniture and computer equipment are already fitted in the academic spaces and Students’ Union.”
