THE fight against crime must not come at the expense of freedom, President Christine Kangaloo has said.

In her Republic Day message to citizens, Kangaloo said the country must be careful that fear does not lead to the erosion of citizens’ rights.

“Crime has caused profound grief and anxiety in homes and communities across our country,” she said.
