A 41-year-old pris­on­er died in his cell at the Arou­ca Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison days af­ter be­ing hos­pi­talised for a med­ica­tion over­dose.

Po­lice said prison of­fi­cers found the body of Raf­fie Mo­hammed in his cell at around 5.30 am on Tues­day.

He was tak­en to the prison in­fir­mary and then to the Ari­ma Hos­pi­tal, where he was de­clared dead.
