An inmate at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca was found dead in his cell early Tuesday morning, police reported.
The deceased, Raffie Mohammed, 41, of La Fortune Jackson Place, Woodland, was discovered unresponsive in Cell No. 99, around 5:30 a.m. Prison officerstransported him to the infirmary and subsequently to the Arima Health Facility, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to reports, Mohammed had reportedly overdosed on metformin pills last week and was treated at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex before being discharged back to the prison on Monday, 6.
