A ex-insurance agent facing multiple charges of fraud, forgery, and larceny was granted bail at the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The accused, of El Carmen Street, Sangre Grande, was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 with surety by Master Hosein. As part of his conditions, he is required to report to the Sangre Grande Police Station every Wednesday, and he is under a no-contact order with the victim. The case has been adjourned to June 8.
The man faces eleven counts of forgery, eleven counts of uttering forged documents, one count of fraudulent conversion, and one count of larceny. According to police, the charges relate to an investigation by the Eastern Division into allegations that he received over $37,000 from a female victim between 2015 and 2022, purportedly to pay insurance premiums, but allegedly misappropriated the funds.
