When Ruth Moraldo heard the news yesterday that 33-year-old Cocorite electrician Akil De Vignes had rescued a little boy from falling off the Ferris Wheel at MovieTowne, Port of Spain’s Carousel Park, she was not the least bit surprised.
Moraldo, who was De Vignes’s form teacher at South East Port of Spain Senior Secondary, said she was not only proud of her former student but that “if he had to do it all over again he would do it,” adding, “and if this news didn’t go public, Akil would have saved that boy and said nothing about it. He is someone who will go over and beyond for people.”
Moraldo described him as a “very humble young man who was looked up to by his peers as a mediator.”
