(Kaieteur News) – Dr. Veerasammy Ramayya of Whim Village, Corentyne, was released on $200,000 station bail on Tuesday following a fatal accident on Saturday night that claimed the life of 42-year-old pedestrian Ishwarnauth Bisram.
According to reports, Ramayya’s vehicle struck Bisram as he was attempting to cross the Nigg Public Road, Corentyne.
Ramayya, a prominent political figure in Region Six and former Regional Executive Officer (REO), was taken into police custody on Saturday evening and released at around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, according to information reaching Kaieteur News.
