A municipal police officer lost his life in what investigators are treating as an accidental shooting on Thursday afternoon at the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government, Kent House, Maraval Road, Port of Spain.

The deceased has been identified as Special Reserve Officer (SRP) Jamal Charles, who was stationed at the compound’s southern guard booth.

According to police reports, around 3:15 p.m., Charles was on duty with two colleagues Each officer was armed with a Glock pistol and issued rounds of ammunition.
