A police officer was shot during an operation in St Ann's Wednesday.
Police in a media release Thursday reported officers of the Joint Operations Task Force (JOTF) were conducting a mobile patrol in the St Ann's area when they received intelligence information about a man armed with firearms on Fondes Amandes Road, St. Anns.
"Upon arrival, a group of men was observed fleeing toward a forested area. The officers gave chase, and several loud explosions were heard. The party returned fire. It was later discovered that an officer was shot," the release stated.
