Prime Min­is­ter Stu­art Young is giv­ing as­sur­ances of job safe­ty for work­ers at the state-run Wa­ter and Sewage Au­thor­i­ty, as well as those em­ployed with the Trinidad and To­ba­go Elec­tric­i­ty Com­mis­sion.

Dur­ing a pub­lic meet­ing in St James on Wednes­day night, PM Young dis­missed claims by the UNC that there are plans to pri­va­tise those or­gan­i­sa­tions and re­duce staff.

“That Cab­i­net Sub-Com­mit­tee Re­port [they’re] re­fer­ring to … was re­ject­ed by the Cab­i­net,” he as­sert­ed. “A com­mit­tee puts for­ward a re­port. A com­mit­tee makes rec­om­men­da­tions.”
