The mayor of Lauderhill, Denise Grant, has honoured Kamla Persad-Bissessar by officially proclaiming March 8, 2026, as “The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., M.P., Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Day.”
The proclamation was presented to Persad-Bissessar during a diaspora event held on Sunday at Joy’s Roti Shop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
According to the proclamation issued by Grant and supported by Vice Mayor Richard Campbell and city commissioners Sarai Martin, Melissa P. Dunn and John T. Hodgson, the honour recognises Persad-Bissessar’s leadership and contributions to Trinidad and Tobago as well as her influence across the wider Caribbean community.
