Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said she has received no report about any impending war in Venezuela and urged people to stop the fearmongering.
Persad-Bissessar was responding to questions from the media at the National Cycling Centre in Couva while visiting the national recruitment exercise ongoing at the facility.
Asked about reports that 5,000 Russian missiles had landed in Venezuela and feelings of anxiety over an impending war, the Prime Minister responded, “I think there are some people who are fearmongering. I assure you to be calm; if and when there is a war, we will let you know, we will keep you informed of what is happening. I have no information of a war, no information on missiles landing in Venezuela. There are some just determined with fearmongering. My name is Kamla, be calm.”
