ElecÂtions and BoundÂaries ComÂmisÂsion (EBC) Chief ElecÂtions OfÂfiÂcer Fern NarÂcis has disÂmissed alÂleÂgaÂtions of colÂluÂsion made by forÂmer UnitÂed NaÂtionÂal ConÂgress (UNC) senÂaÂtor Anil Roberts, statÂing that such claims have been cirÂcuÂlatÂing for sevÂerÂal years.
Roberts alÂleged that NarÂcis, as head of the EBC, has mainÂtained a close friendÂship with MinÂisÂter of EdÂuÂcaÂtion Dr Nyan GadsÂby-DolÂly since their time at St AuÂgusÂtine Girls’ High School, apÂproxÂiÂmateÂly 30 years ago. He furÂther claimed that NarÂcis is a staunch supÂportÂer of the PeoÂple’s NaÂtionÂal MoveÂment (PNM), atÂtends parÂty funcÂtions, takes phoÂtographs with PNM minÂisÂters, and proudÂly wears red.
ReÂspondÂing to the alÂleÂgaÂtions, NarÂcis acÂknowlÂedged her school conÂnecÂtion with GadsÂby-DolÂly but emÂphaÂsised that this has no bearÂing on her imÂparÂtialÂiÂty or abilÂiÂty to perÂform her duÂties.
