Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has categorically dismissed reports that the United States has established a “base” in Tobago as she quipped whether the US will attack Venezuela from the sister island using a portable latrine.
Responding to questions from the Express, the Prime Minister said yesterday that a drone photograph published by Guardian Media—which depicts the support for the operation of a US-installed radar system—does not constitute a “base”.
She criticised what she described as deliberate attempts to manufacture a controversy where none exists, adding that it was peculiar that this was being done as the island prepares for the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election on January 12.
