A joint overnight operation by the Prison Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and the TTPS has uncovered a major haul of contraband at the External Remand Facility and the refurbished Golden Grove Prison, Arouca.
The exercise, conducted between 10 p.m. on Tuesday and 2.30 a.m. Wednesday, was coordinated by Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro. It was supervised by Snr Supt Lee Davis.
In the sweep, officers seized 14 cellphones, 12 SIM cards, 10 USB cords, 15 chargers, five headsets, a quantity of marijuana, loose cigarettes and wrapping paper. They also found a one-litre Cole Cold soft drink bottle with a false bottom, three improvised weapons, a flick knife and a silver spoon.
