(Kaieteur News) – Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Mohabir Anil Nandlall, SC, launched an attack on the legal team representing detained Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed, which followed comments by defense attorneys Roysdale Forde, SC, and Siand Dhurjon over prison conditions and prolonged judicial delays.
The legal battle stems from Mohamed’s appearance before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Friday, October 30, 2026. The 39-year-old resident of Houston, Greater Georgetown, was charged under Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018 with the unauthorised distribution of electronic data, following allegations that he downloaded and shared CCTV footage from the state’s safe city surveillance network depicting a shooting incident involving head of Special Branch, Prem Narine.

After Magistrate Gibbs denied bail and remanded Mohamed to prison until November 24, defense counsel initiated a fixed date application in the high court through Mohamed’s mother, Bonita Mohamed, seeking judicial review of the magistrate’s decision.
