A police trainee has been charged with driving under the influence following a two-vehicle collision on the Beetham Highway early Sunday morning.
Police said around 4:30 a.m., A/Cpl Chinapoo and another officer of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch were assisting a motorist on the eastbound shoulder near the Beetham landfill when they heard the sound of screeching tyres, followed by a crash.
They responded and found that two vehicles had collided nearby. The driver of the front vehicle was taken for medical assessment.
