Con­struc­tion on the new $US400 mil­lion Unit­ed States em­bassy in Mar­aval has be­gun and em­bassy of­fi­cials have ad­vised that near­by res­i­dents may ex­pe­ri­ence noise and traf­fic dis­rup­tions as a re­sult in the com­ing months.

The em­bassy is be­ing con­struct­ed on the site of what was the Trinidad Coun­try Club lo­cat­ed on Long Cir­cu­lar Road, Mar­aval.

"The em­bassy apol­o­gis­es to res­i­dents and mo­torists in the area for the in­con­ve­nience in­clud­ing noise and in­ter­mit­tent traf­fic dis­rup­tions in the next few months, be­cause of the use of heavy equip­ment on site," a state­ment by the US em­bassy in Port-of-Spain said.
