Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro today confirmed that a senior Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service officer was detained on Thursday night under a Preventive Detention Order (PDO).
The officer, an Acting Superintendent of Prisons has been in the service for over 20 years but was being investigated for his alleged connection to a smuggling ring at the Maximum Security Prison.
Police said that his last posting was at the Carrera Island Prison where he had been transferred to shortly after Acting Prisons Commissioner Carlos Corraspe had been sent on 200 days vacation leave in July.
