Alexander: ZOSO more than just guns and arrests

Elements of the proposed Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) are already being practised in Tunapuna, where Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander says crime-fighting is being combined with community development.

From helping young people learn barbering and hairdressing to assisting residents with social and health needs, Alexander said Tunapuna was already providing a glimpse of what a Zone of Special Operations could look like in practice.

His comments yesterday followed a prior announcement in the House of Representatives on Friday that the Government would not extend the state of emergency (SoE), which expires on September 17.
