In her first budget response as Opposition Leader, Pennelope Beckles yesterday predicted increases in rents and bank charges as a result of the landlord tax and the asset levy on commercial banks and insurance companies.

She also said the electricity surcharge on businesses will be passed on to consumers.

She described the UNC Government as the “grinch that killed Christmas limes and a killer of Carnival fetes, bands and events” with the doubling of alcohol taxes.
