IF after just 100 days in office you are warning your ministers that you will “buss their head”, it clearly means that something is wrong.
So said Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles as she addressed a public meeting in San Fernando on Tuesday night at which she responded to the Prime Minister’s statements at the Monday Night Report that she will buss their heads and fire them, as some ministers were already “cavorting” with the same “crooked contractors and lawyers” associated with the former PNM administration.
“This issue of a 100 days is very interesting because... if you want to buss head after 100 days, something has to be wrong. If you have to threaten your ministers and tell them, ‘if I only hear that you are in Hyatt having a meeting with the one percent or whoever it is, because you know they have a little ting with the one percent, if I only hear you there, I go fire you myself...But the question she (the Prime Minister) needs to ask herself is what are they doing there having meetings that will cause her to want to fire them. I mean the whole document(ing) of who come by Jearlean and who go by Republic Bank and all of that. And giving the impression that whatever was transpiring there, is something similar to what used to transpire under the People’s National Movement. But it is a new minister, how could it be similar? So don’t blame us. If it is your ministers involved in illegal activity, you deal with them. But don’t say...it was something similar to what we (the PNM) were doing, that ain’t making no sense,” Beckles said.
