OPPOSITION Leader Pennelope Beckles has warned the country to “brace for hardship” under the United National Congress (UNC) Government.
In a statement yesterday, Beckles also called Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar “unbecoming”, accusing her of governing through fear. The PM was also criticised for remarks at the weekend when she called Trinidad and Tobago a “lawless dump”.
Beckles has taken the Government to task for its increased fines and duties, stating that, “Whether you find yourself as a UNC or a PNM supporter on December 29, 2025, one thing for sure is that going into 2026, you have to brace yourself for economic hardship. Taxation seems to be the Government’s theme for 2026.”
