SEVERAL taxi drivers have expressed support for the resumption of wrecking operations in downtown, Port of Spain, which goes into effect from today.
Last week, the Port of Spain Corporation announced that from today, unauthorised or improperly parked vehicles across the downtown business district will be removed as part of renewed efforts to reduce congestion and maintain order in the capital. The move has received strong backing from both taxi and ‘PH’ (Private Hire) drivers who say illegal parking continues to disrupt their operations and obstruct designated taxi stands.
The Express visited several taxi stands yesterday, and spoke with drivers.
