More than a week after a fatal accident involving a police officer at the intersection of Macaw Road and Lamaha Street, Georgetown, the police reported on Sunday that the cop involved is under close arrest. The accident, which took place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, has led to the death of 38-year-old Kevin London of Guyhoc Park Gardens, Georgetown. Police stated that on the day in question, motor car PAE 8323, which was being driven by a 27-year-old police corporal from Rosignol, West Coast Berbice (WCB), was proceeding along Macaw Road, while motor car PAF 3925, driven by the now-deceased man, was proceeding along Lamaha Street. However, as both vehicles approached the intersection, it is alleged that they failed to stop before proceeding into the junction, thus resulting in a collision. As a result, London sustained injuries about his body and was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was treated and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He subsequently succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, while receiving medical treatment. The policeman involved in the accident, whom the police stated had passed a breathalyser test, was placed under close arrest as investigations continue.
