A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police is in critical condition following a road traffic accident along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway on Tuesday night that also injured a police officer and a civilian.
Joseph Chandool, 65, was injured around 9:40 p.m. on June 17, when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a parked police vehicle involved in a roving road traffic exercise along the eastbound lane of the highway near the Maritime overpass.
At the time of the incident, officers attached to the Highway Patrol Task Force (HPTF) Shift A were conducting a stop-and-search operation.
