Caribbean Airlines confirmed on Saturday, 3 January 2026, that all its flights are operating as scheduled despite reports of U.S. military strikes in Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The announcement came in the wake of a ban issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on U.S. commercial flights in Venezuelan airspace due to “ongoing military activity,” while the U.S. State Department warned American citizens in Venezuela to shelter in place.
Eyewitnesses in Caracas and surrounding states reported a series of explosions and low-flying aircraft early Saturday. Videos circulating online showed fiery blasts at key military and civilian sites, including La Carlota airfield and the Fuerte Tiuna military base. The extent of any injuries remains unclear.
