Minister of Culture and Community Development Michelle Benjamin says she is determined to evolve and enhance the cultural sector to become a greater contributor to the national economy.
With this goal in mind, she revealed that the National Carnival Commission (NCC) will be restructured soon after the conclusion of this year’s festival.
“We have introduced Carnival 365 to host events throughout the year and to support our artistes who are already making an impact around the region and the globe,” said Benjamin. “Additionally, we are creating a tourism attraction programme to increase foreign exchange earnings. Our aim is to enhance the value of our cultural offerings, which involves a comprehensive overhaul of both the product and the governing body, the National Carnival Commission. This restructuring is essential for promoting the carnival internationally, engaging local artistes, and delivering greater value to citizens and stakeholders by 2027.”
