(Kaieteur News) – The mining town of Linden is expected to be fully integrated into the national electricity grid by 2029, according to the Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) Development and Expansion Plan for 2026-2030.
With Linden connected to the national grid, electricity demand is projected to reach 5,975 GWh over the period, representing an annual growth rate of about 45.7 percent, or roughly 1,753 GWh per year.
The plan said a scenario-based assessment was conducted to account for uncertainty surrounding the pace and composition of electricity demand growth across GPL and Linden.
