Second Prisons Officer Detained Amid Contraband Investigations

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service (TTPrS) advises that a male Prisons Officer, with just about twelve (12) years of service, was arrested by Police Officers attached to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Operations), on Friday, August 28, 2026, outside the Golden Grove Prison.

The latest development follows the recent arrest of a female Prisons Officer in connection with the alleged trafficking of prohibited articles into the Golden Grove Prison. It forms part of an ongoing police investigation into an alleged contraband trafficking network operating within the prison.

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, a Preventive Detention Order (PDO), pursuant to Regulation 14 of the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2026, was executed on the Prisons Officer. He is currently detained at the Eastern Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre.
