On Saturday, the United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago issued a security alert warning Americans to stay away from US government facilities in the country over the Divali holiday weekend.
In response, both acting Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin and Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander confirmed that Trinidad and Tobago is currently under a heightened security alert. They urged citizens to remain calm, noting that precautionary measures have already been implemented.
