Despite calls for a public address amid growing tensions and the US’ military presence in the Caribbean, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar did not attend the final night of the 2025 Divali Nagar on Sunday.
Persad-Bissessar, who was supposed to deliver the feature address at the Chaguanas celebration on its last night, did not make an appearance at the festivities.
Inclement weather had yesterday battered some parts of central Trinidad, but by 5.20.p.m., the National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC) indicated that the rain and water had significantly subsided. An official reason for her absence has not yet been offered by any government channels.
