(Kaieteur News) – A 29-year-old female farmer is hospitalised after she was allegedly struck in the forehead with an axe during a domestic dispute at Wariquima Settlement, Upper Mazaruni River, on Thursday.
Police said the incident occurred around 15:00hrs last week Thursday. According to preliminary investigations, the woman and the suspect, a 30-year-old miner, are in a common-law relationship and live together.
Police said the woman was at home splitting firewood with an axe when the suspect returned and allegedly accused her of being unfaithful. An argument reportedly followed, during which the suspect allegedly took the axe from the woman and struck her in the forehead with the base of the tool.
