Young warns of ‘police state’

FORMER national security minister Stuart Young has accused the Government of seeking to turn Trinidad and Tobago into a “police state, nothing less” through its reformed proposal of the previous Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) bill.

Young stated in the Parliament yesterday that he feared the population was “becoming so numb to the word constitutional and constitutionality and their fundamental rights being suppressed, that they are allowing the dictatorship to grow and to gallop”.

“It is not creeping. We are in a dictatorship. That is clear,” Young said.
